Joanna Gaines, author and reality TV star, is the latest celebrity to get into the bedding business with her Target-exclusive collection.
The Fixer Upper star added a new line of bedding to her Hearth & Hand with Magnolia collection.This collection features comforters, sheets, and blankets in her farmhouse-chic style.. Gaines is showing HGTV-viewers her first bedding collection.HowSince her 2013 debut, she has been assembling bedroom decor. The designer decided to end the show after five seasons and focus solely on Hearth & Hand.
The first step to a well-designed bedroom is a space that feels and looks comfortable. My bedding collection features soft linens and textiles like patterned pillows. The soft cotton sheets are my favorite, then I add texture to the pillows with simple stitch designs and raw edges. As a final touch, I will add a throw to the end of my bed.
Gaines continues to give design tips for people looking to improve their bedroom decor. But bedding accessories are not the only items she has launched in her Magnolia collection. Joanna Gaines is not the only person trying to make a name for herself in the bedding industry.Lionel Richie, the vocalist, recently launched a line in bath and bedding products through JCPenney. Catherine Zeta Jones, actress, will soon unveil a collection in bedding, rugs, and towels that is inspired by her Welsh heritage.. It’s hard to believe that celebrities are designing more sleep accessories.
So?Get an expert opinion on whether these celebrity-made items are or not.Good.Nicole Agnello, an interior designer based in NYC, was my interview subject. She explained to me that while Hollywood brands are likely to be a draw for consumers, it is worth looking at whether people like Gaines and Richie are making bedding responsibly.
Agnello said that the wonderful thing about design is that everyone is affected and each person has their own experiences. Therefore, everyone should have a voice. Because there is so much science behind design and behind bringing products to market, I feel strongly that every designer should do their research and create quality products in a sustainable way, regardless of whether they are famous or not.
