HORST LINK. HORST LINK CONTACT

Q. Q. How can I stop the 07 XTR rear derailleur hitting my Moto-lite’s horst link? Jimmie Macs custom TitusML wrote up the exact same problem. But he suggested that it could be fixed with an adjustment. The B limiter has helped some. There is another way to fix this?
RC: The front derailleur is in the path of the swingarm/dropout hinge. It is possible to move it (Specialized or Ellsworth) to a different location, but this will compromise the HorstLink geometry’s fully-active aspects. The clanking only happens in one or two gear combinationsproviding that your chain is correctly sized. To ensure that your chain is properly sized, shift into the largest cog or big chainring. Then, pull the chain tight enough to ensure that the rear derailleur cage in the forwardmost position is fully extended. Next, let the chain relax for one inch (one link). Then, reduce or lengthen your chain according to the spec. Ride around and check if your bike is still clanking. Stick a rubber furniture-leg bumper (or dropout) on the rear derailleur and secure it with a small zip tie.
